Day 3/30 of Learning to Let Go

As promised, a picture of another cluttered spot. Hopefully at the end of the 30 days I’ll have a place for everything on there or it will have left the house for good!

I have to be honest, three items was a little harder than two! I was tempted to dive into the books but decided to save them for when I’m really struggling.

Earlier today I remembered about a pair of really soft pants I gave away earlier in the year – I let them go because they didn’t fit well since I had gained some weight which I assumed would stick with me because I was getting older.

Well, as it happens when I give something away, I eventually feel like I “need” it. Those pants would fit me now – and I was sad I didn’t have them anymore.

My first thought was “See, this always happens!” When I got really real about them – thinking about how often I wore them and how comfortable they were I remembered I usually only wore them a couple times a year and they were never really super comfortable.

It didn’t take long to feel okay with having let them go already. This will be a conversation I have with myself quite regularly I think

Day 2/30

Let go of 2 things today…easy!!

A corner punch I picked up at Value Village that doesn’t work. It’s a struggle to toss it but why should I send it back for someone else to waste their money? Garbage it is.

The little clay flower petalish dish I made in pottery club a few years ago. I never really liked it but figured since I made it I should keep it. It’s just been clutter so I can let it go.

When this starts to get difficult I’ll probably start letting go of books – I have a lot of them and it would be good to pare down.

Tomorrow I’ll share another corner of clutter I would like to clean up – hopefully as I start making more space I’ll be able to organize the things I want to keep and use.

A Leap Into Life – Learn to Let Go of Stuff : 30 Day Challenge

First Picture of one of the many cluttered areas in my home.

This is just one small area I want to declutter.

For years I have “jokingly” called myself a hoarder. I am a firm believer that our thoughts create our realities and the house is getting more and more cluttered every year.

I was listening to ‘The Minimalists’ podcast a few weeks ago and they mentioned a 30 day minimalist challenge. I’m not ready to become a minimalist (yet?) but I am more than ready to learn to let go of some of my stuff.

Over on Muckenaround.com I am doing a 100 Day Joyful creativity challenge and the accountability of posting daily has really helped me stick to creating a little something every day so I thought a challenge would be helpful to create a little space.

At the end of the 30 days I will be 465 items lighter in my home. That’s a lot of stuff!!

Day one – one item – good bye sun candle holder.
