Did a wander through the house and came up with 53 things from kitchen cupboards, drawers and closets.
I do feel good about getting rid of things but I know I have a long way to go…
Time to ponder what the next step in declutter will be.

A day ahead for a change!
I Love the quote!
It was a real motivator for purging 45 pieces of clothing.
It will take some time to want to hang out with all the clothes in my closet.
But I’ve started 🤗
Dove into towels, linens and picture frames and found 6 homemade wines as well.
Finding twenty towels and face clothes to purge was pretty easy yesterday.
Items for today we’re old sheets, plastic frames I’m unlikely to use, a couple pieces of clothing and six bottles of wine.
The purging has made me a little more motivated I think, that and the beautiful weather!
After a long walk with Finn I decided it was a good day to clean up the back yard.
An hour and a half later the leaves were picked up, and summer furniture put away.
Spring will be so much easier next year!
External clutter is internal clutter on display…
Yikes! Good thing I’m decluttering 😀
37 items for yesterday and today and since it was a recycle day I got rid of boxes and packaging then tonight I finished the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet, found a bag of old paper decorations, a couple pillows and a backpack.
There was no counting today – I just flipped through files to make sure there wasn’t anything interesting hiding in them then in the shredder box they went.
Files dating back to 1993 – taxes, medical records/receipts, banking, bills – so much stuff!
The quote fits me well – I do struggle with decision making.
I think it’s why I can get more done when there is a deadline, I have no choice but to make a decision.
I have to say, it feels awesome to get rid of this stuff!
Change of plans for day 13 – I was doing laundry before heading up to my granddaughters 1st Birthday party and saw an easy collection of stuff to get rid of.
Garbage from the shelves by the washer. Mostly empty cleaning supplies, laundry soap lids and spray bottles that don’t work.
AND I found three pairs of rollerblades and a set of protective gear – wrist, knee, elbow and head protection in the shelf unit.
I toyed with the idea of holding onto a pair of the rollerblades and the gear for my granddaughter but when I actually thought it through I realized it would be another 10 – 12 years before they would get used!
It feels like the voice of reason is getting stronger as the month progresses!
Oops, forgot to post yesterday! I did let go of eight items though.
Lucky cat, Tarot cards (sold on Market Place), hat, dominoes, wooden box, little bowl and 3 bottles of old body mist into the garbage.
Day 9 was a good day!
Tossed a couple bags and clothes with rips. Took some old speakers and a sound system to the recycle depot…
Then five boxes to the thrift store – three filled with giveaways from the last nine days, and two with things I’d collected over the summer.
Another corner of STUFF!
I think I’m going to dig into it next.
Opened a drawer and look what I found!
These have been kicking around since the days of Liquidation World downtown – and I can’t remember the last time they were used.
Eight packages of incense and two candles.
I feel a little bit like I cheated since I could have called them a set of incense but I’m tired from a busy weekend with the wee one so it’s going to have to do.
Today I decided to let go of one of my favorite purses.
I had grand plans to try decopaging over the peeling parts but I did a little reality check and decided it was highly unlikely to happen – so I’m tossing it.
For giveaway – a book, a friendship bracelet maker and half a dozen glasses.
This weekend I’m going to load up the items from the last couple of days plus a couple boxes I’d filled over the last few months and drop them off at the thrift store.
The house will be a little lighter already. 😊
This is just one small area I want to declutter.
For years I have “jokingly” called myself a hoarder. I am a firm believer that our thoughts create our realities and the house is getting more and more cluttered every year.
I was listening to ‘The Minimalists’ podcast a few weeks ago and they mentioned a 30 day minimalist challenge. I’m not ready to become a minimalist (yet?) but I am more than ready to learn to let go of some of my stuff.
Over on Muckenaround.com I am doing a 100 Day Joyful creativity challenge and the accountability of posting daily has really helped me stick to creating a little something every day so I thought a challenge would be helpful to create a little space.
At the end of the 30 days I will be 465 items lighter in my home. That’s a lot of stuff!!
