learn to let go

Days 28-30/30 Books, Dishes, Clothes & CD’s.

Thirty days of learning to let go is done!

I had to let go of more than just things to be successful in this challenge.

In a perfect world the purge would have happened on a daily basis but real life happens so some days were added to the next.

Today’s catch up of three days was good! Books, clothes, dishes and CD’s.

There were days in the last month that I thought I would be able to let go of all my collections.

And then it was time to decide what to let go of and it became a difficult decision.

I feel good about letting go of the things I did but realize I have a long way to go.

Days 24&25/30 Tea Cupboard

I did some research and found that while old tea isn’t harmful it likely doesn’t taste good.

I had a lot of old tea!! And I did try a couple and yes, they were pretty bland.

So into the trash they went…I did consider keeping them for paper dying but was quick to discard that idea as well!

Now I have this lovely, tidy cupboard…is this what I want my entire home to look like? I’m not sure to be honest. I do know I want to keep going on the letting go – but not sure how far.

Days 22&23/30 Clothing Purge

A day ahead for a change!

I Love the quote!

It was a real motivator for purging 45 pieces of clothing.

It will take some time to want to hang out with all the clothes in my closet.

But I’ve started 🤗

Day 16/30 Clear the Clutter Challenge

There was no counting today – I just flipped through files to make sure there wasn’t anything interesting hiding in them then in the shredder box they went.

Files dating back to 1993 – taxes, medical records/receipts, banking, bills – so much stuff!

The quote fits me well – I do struggle with decision making.

I think it’s why I can get more done when there is a deadline, I have no choice but to make a decision.

I have to say, it feels awesome to get rid of this stuff!

Day 14 & 15/30 Old Papers

I needed to get rid of 29 things for yesterday and today. The green box had some old files and pictures. I took the pictures out and boxed up half a dozen frames for giveaway.

I didn’t do an actual count – but I put a bit of a dent in the filing cabinet. Some easy choices – old electric bills, manuals for appliances and credit card bills.

I’m going to keep plugging away at the files and paperwork for a few days and then send it to a paper shredder in town – just to be on the safe side.

Day 13/30 Laundry Room

Change of plans for day 13 – I was doing laundry before heading up to my granddaughters 1st Birthday party and saw an easy collection of stuff to get rid of.

Garbage from the shelves by the washer. Mostly empty cleaning supplies, laundry soap lids and spray bottles that don’t work.

AND I found three pairs of rollerblades and a set of protective gear – wrist, knee, elbow and head protection in the shelf unit.

I toyed with the idea of holding onto a pair of the rollerblades and the gear for my granddaughter but when I actually thought it through I realized it would be another 10 – 12 years before they would get used!

It feels like the voice of reason is getting stronger as the month progresses!

Day 12/30 Clear That Clutter Challenge

Today I cleared out a cupboard in the kitchen while I was baking a cake for my granddaughters first birthday.

It worked out perfectly, I found exactly twelve old, stale, out dated or almost empty boxes.

Tomorrow I’m hitting up my parents old paper work sitting in boxes downstairs. I think it will be easy to find thirteen file folders.

Day 10 & 11/30

21 items for yesterday and today!

An assortment of shoes, clothes, books ornaments etc. – things to rehome and toss.

A few things for the garbage, a few back to the original owner and of course to the thrift store.

I think I’m going to have to start hitting up the books and art supplies soon – which may prove to be difficult!

Day 8&9/30 Day Learn to Let Go Challenge

Oops, forgot to post yesterday! I did let go of eight items though.

Lucky cat, Tarot cards (sold on Market Place), hat, dominoes, wooden box, little bowl and 3 bottles of old body mist into the garbage.

Day 9 was a good day!

Tossed a couple bags and clothes with rips. Took some old speakers and a sound system to the recycle depot…

Then five boxes to the thrift store – three filled with giveaways from the last nine days, and two with things I’d collected over the summer.

Another corner of STUFF!

I think I’m going to dig into it next.

Day 7/30 Letting Go Challenge

Candles and Incense

Opened a drawer and look what I found!

These have been kicking around since the days of Liquidation World downtown – and I can’t remember the last time they were used.

Eight packages of incense and two candles.

I feel a little bit like I cheated since I could have called them a set of incense but I’m tired from a busy weekend with the wee one so it’s going to have to do.

How stinkin’ cute is this wee one though???
